St. John Paul II High School Groundbreaking Ceremony Set for Friday, Jan. 27

The Most Rev. Thomas J. Olmsted, Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Phoenix, invites the community to a special groundbreaking event at 10 a.m., Jan. 27, to celebrate the next step in establishing St. John Paul II Catholic High School, the first Catholic high school to serve the growing number of Catholic students and families in the far West Valley.

Diocese of Phoenix to Host Courage International’s ‘Truth and Love’ Conference

The Diocese of Phoenix and Courage International will host the upcoming Truth and Love conference. The goal is to offer sound practical and pastoral guidance on the topics of homosexuality and sexual identity. The event, Jan. 9–11, 2017, at St. Paul Parish in Phoenix, is the third of its kind. Previous educational conferences organized by Courage and various co-sponsors have been held in Detroit and Rome.

Office of Vocations releases series of video profiles on the priesthood

The Office of Vocations of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Phoenix is releasing a series of video profiles on the priesthood titled Sacerdote. The videos, which may be watched at youtube.com/mifecatolica, seek to encourage Hispanic families to open up to vocations to the priesthood. According to Fr. Paul Sullivan, Director of the Office of Vocations for the Diocese of Phoenix, “The importance of openness among Hispanic families to vocations to the priesthood and religious life is critical for vibrancy of the Church.”

Diócesis de Phoenix lanza serie de videos sobre el sacerdocio

La Oficina de Vocaciones de la Diócesis Católica y Romana de Phoenix ha lanzado hoy una serie de videos para internet titulados Sacerdote. Los videos buscan alentar a las familias hispanas a tener apertura hacia las vocaciones al sacerdocio y pueden ser vistos en youtube.com/mifecatolica. De acuerdo con el Padre Pablo Sullivan, Director de la Oficina de Vocaciones de la Diócesis de Phoenix, “La importancia de la apertura en las familias hispanas a las vocaciones al sacerdocio y la vida religiosa es crítica para la vitalidad de la Iglesia”.

Statement from Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted and Auxiliary Bishop Eduardo A. Nevares on Police Officer Shootings in Dallas

We are stunned and heartbroken over the tragically violent events that occurred in Dallas Thursday night, and we implore the Arizona community to join us in praying for those law enforcement officers whose lives were lost, for the police officers and civilians who were injured, and for the two men killed earlier in the week in officer-related shootings in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and in a suburb of Minneapolis-St. Paul.
