Position Summary
The Part-Time Cook is responsible for preparing the evening dinner meal on weekdays (Monday–Friday) for the members of the Crosier community and their guests, accommodating dietary restrictions as necessary. He or she also purchases the food for those meals on a weekly or twice-weekly basis, with funds provided by the Crosiers.

Primary Responsibilities

Prepare the evening dinner meal Monday–Friday (dinner served at 6 p.m.).

Wash dishes used in cooking and wipe down stove/ovens and counters.

Maintain and organize the food preparation areas and pantry.
Specific Tasks

Daily meal preparation: Prepare the evening dinner meal according to a biweekly or monthly schedule of menus with the meal ready to eat at 6 p.m. Monday–Friday; include gluten-free and lactose-free options and accommodate other dietary restrictions as necessary and informed in advance; set a first course of soup or salad; prepare a main meal consisting of 1) meat, fish or other protein source, 2) carbohydrate and 3) two kinds of vegetables; set dessert (provided by Crosiers) on serving table after main course.

Daily cleaning: Wash the dishes used in the preparation of the meal; wipe down kitchen areas

Weekly/monthly cleaning: Clean ovens, microwaves, refrigerator shelves and drawers, counter drawers; organize pantry so items are in their categories (dressings, condiments, soups, cereals, etc.); launder kitchen hand and dish towels, placemats and napkins; fold and put away clean items.

Shopping: Purchase food for weekly meals (usually once or twice a week); hourly rate will be paid for shopping and travel time and expenses will be reimbursed or a credit card will be provided; stock food in the priory kitchen.

Inventory: Monitor inventory of food in pantry and refrigerators.
Qualifications
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities required

Customer service/interpersonal savvy — Has good communication, comprehension and interpersonal skills

Resourceful — Understands how the organization works, is not afraid to reach out to other people for assistance; is able to work independently or with others to provide healthy meals to Crosier Fathers and Brothers

Organizing/Planning/Time Management — Plans and prepares the meal so that the food is prepared on time; uses his/her time effectively and efficiently, concentrates his/her efforts on the more important priorities

Flexibility — Can adapt to the number of diners present; a Crosier will inform the cook of the number of diners for each day in advance

Fluency in English – is able to communicate and read in English
Level of experience:

Previous experience cooking for larger groups preferred
Educational background:

High school diploma or equivalent

Physical requirements:

Ability to lift pots, pans, serving trays

Ability to put away food items and dishes
Travel and special schedule requirements:

Must possess valid Arizona Driver License by hire date

Must be able to work in the United States
