Title: Coordinator of Youth and Young Adult Evangelization

Purpose and Scope:
Corpus Christi, a thriving parish with over 2,000 families and several nearby junior high and high schools, is looking to grow the junior high and high school ministries. With support of the Pastor, candidate will develop, organize, and facilitate all components of evangelization and catechesis of youth in their formation to become intentional disciples.
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidate must be a practicing, faith-filled Catholic with a deep love for Jesus Christ and His Church. The ideal candidate would have a degree in Religious Education or Theology and experience in evangelizing youth.
Essential Job Functions:
Program Development
o Recruits, trains, develops and motivates all teenage youth (jr high/high school age) and adult volunteers in their relationship with God and the Church.
o Works to foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person.
o Develops catechetical and leadership skills in youth and adult volunteers.
o Develops a network of communication to youth and parents.
o Provides weekly youth evangelization/catechesis opportunities for youth to hear and respond to the Gospel message in their growth in discipleship.
o Is available and has set times for listening, advising and referrals.
o Plans, coordinates and implements service opportunities and weekend retreats- one each semester.
o Works in collaboration with the Diocese/parish staff to offer safe environment training for each volunteer.
o Coordinates and supervises sacramental processes for youth in collaboration with other parish staff and volunteers; plans and facilitates evangelization/catechesis for any teenage youth who might need the Sacraments of Initiation.
o Attends special school events and sports functions and visits schools when possible.
o Supervises and coordinates scheduling of ministry events and activities.
o Understands the needs and current trends of the young adults in our parish, community, and beyond.
o Attends outside events to recruit, train, develop, and motivate young adults.
o Develops a network of communication to young adults.
o Fosters the involvement of the young adults in our parish and encourages them to be involved in parish activities and/or ministries.
o Ensures that the young adult meetings and events are prayerful and focused on building a personal relationship with Christ.
Administration
o Prepares, submits and administers a proposed budget each year; maintains accurate financial records as required by Parish policy.
o Maintains necessary office and program records, including a log of activities and time.
o Determines effective means for publicizing and promoting programs and experiences.
o Submits periodic reports to the Pastor and Pastoral Council as requested detailing programs in youth and young adult ministry.
o Stays up to date with listed community agencies and resources that interface with youth.
o Available and willing to work with the evangelization team under the guidance of the evangelization director and pastor.
Communication
o Maintains regular communication with teens and their families through the bulletin, mailing and contact opportunities; participates in the Parish registration process; maintains accurate records on youth and their families.
o Initiates ways of gathering data on the need, interest, attitudes and beliefs of the youth.
o Keeps the Parish faith community informed of youth and young adult ministry activities and goals.
Parish Staff Member
o Attends regular staff meetings and participates in staff planning.
o Communicates with staff about youth and young adult ministry activities and seeks staff input in planning youth ministry activities.
o Supervises and coordinates scheduling of youth and young adult events and activities.
o Works in collaboration with other Parish staff in scheduling, visioning, planning and implementing activities, events and processes that overlaps into other areas of other staff responsibilities.
o Collaborates with Evangelization staff on various evangelization projects including, but not limited to: Vacation Bible School, Family Masses, Family Sacrament Retreats, All Saints Trunk-or-Treats, sacramental liturgies, etc. as directed by the Director of Evangelization or the Pastor.
Additional Job Functions
o Perform any other position related tasks as deemed necessary or assigned by the Pastor.
Job Requirements:Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Ability to engage in ongoing professional formation; keep informed of trends in youth ministry, theology and methodology in ministry; participate in Diocesan workshops and seminars, and courses in methodology and theology where needed.
· Ability to maintain a good working relationship with the wider civic community at large.
· Knowledge of all Diocesan guidelines and procedures.
· Proficiency in use of a variety of office equipment.
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office computer programs including Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Willingness to work collaboratively with Pastoral staff and lay leaders.
· Ability to work some nights and weekends.
· Must complete annual Diocesan safe environment training.
· Must have valid AZ Driver’s License and own transportation and the ability to drive on company business in conformance with the Diocese of Phoenix Transportation Policy.
