Purpose and Scope

The Director of Adult Faith Formation and Evangelization is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating programs and initiatives that foster the spiritual growth and evangelization of the adult parish community of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church. This role involves leading and coordinating various faith formation activities, collaborating with volunteers, and promoting the parish's mission of evangelization aimed at leading all those who enter through the doors of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel to Heaven.

Essential Job Functions

· Program Development and Implementation

· Plan, develop, and implement a comprehensive adult faith formation program that addresses the spiritual and pastoral needs and interests of the parish community.

· Design and deliver engaging and relevant faith formation activities, including Bible studies, retreats, workshops, and small group discussions.

· Develop and implement a robust OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) program, preparing candidates for full communion in the Catholic Church.

· Create parish-wide opportunities for ongoing faith formation and spiritual growth through prayer groups, pilgrimages and the like.

· Is present at all important parish events, liturgies and social functions.

· Evangelization and Outreach

· Develop and implement evangelization strategies to reach out to non-practicing Catholics and those outside the church.

· Organize evangelization events, such as parish missions, outreach programs, and community gatherings.

· Collaborate with other ministry leaders to promote the parish's mission of evangelization.

· Leadership and Collaboration

· Lead and support a team of faith formation volunteers, providing training, resources, and ongoing support.

· Collaborate with the pastor and other ministry leaders to integrate faith formation into the life of the parish.

· Represent the parish at diocesan-level faith formation events and initiatives.

· Supervises the Religious Education Department

· Supervises the Youth and Young Adult Departments

· Administrative Tasks

· Manage the Faith Formation Budget and Resources.

· Maintain accurate records of faith formation programs and participants.

· Prepare reports and evaluations of faith formation activities. 

 Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Theology Religious Education, or a related field. (Preferred Master’s Degree in Theology, Religious Education or a related field.)
• Experience in Adult Faith Formation and Evangelization.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of Catholic doctrine and theology.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Passion for evangelization and a desire to share the faith with others.
• Experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Drive and other relevant software.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Comments· This position is full time and exempt and requires approximately 40 hours a week.· Must have a valid Arizona driver’s license and have own transportation.· Employee is subject to the personnel policies of the Diocese of Phoenix for parish personnel.· Ensures that all adult volunteers have received appropriate Called to Protect training and adhere to SET training.· Attends and actively participates at parish staff meeting and events.· This position entails frequent evenings and weekend work.· While not intended to be a complete list, the above are examples of tasks and/or responsibilities associated with this position.
