The Catholic Church proclaims that human life is sacred and that the dignity of the human person is the foundation of a moral vision for society. This belief is the foundation of all the principles of our social teaching. In our society, human life is under direct attack from abortion and euthanasia. We believe that every person is precious, that people are more important than things, and that the measure of every institution is whether it threatens or enhances the life and dignity of the human person.
We engage in public education to affirm the dignity of all human life, provide compassionate pastoral care for those affected by pregnancy challenges, abortion, disability, illness, or loss, advocate for policies protecting the unborn and vulnerable, and foster prayer and worship to transform our culture into one of life and love.
Every parish, association and ecclesial group is called to become a protagonist in a ‘revolution’ of gratitude and care, to be brought about by regular visits to the elderly, the creation of networks of support and prayer for them and with them, and the forging of relationships that can restore hope and dignity to those who feel forgotten.” (Pope Leo XIV)
With heartfelt dedication, the Catholic Church’s parish respect life committees foster a culture of life, supporting the most vulnerable—mothers and their unborn children, the elderly, and the seriously ill or dying—along with their families.
With profound reverence, the Catholic Church upholds the sanctity of all human life from conception to natural death, as a sacred gift from God. Every person’s dignity calls for love, protection, and respect, inspiring compassionate care and opposition to practices that harm life.
