Christ in Our Neighborhood isn’t just another program. It’s a movement of the Holy Spirit that is drawing people into a deeper relationship with Christ. A full year of Sunday Scriptures is divided into multi-week sessions or mini-sessions. Groups may decide to break for one series and then resume when a new series begins. Each series has a theme, like Advent or Easter, in order for the group to address a certain topic in their faith. Other themes include sacraments, vocations, forgiveness, and more. All the resources you need to hold a CION group are available on this website AND in our weekly newsletter. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to sign up for our amazing newsletter.
At the parish level, pastors are encouraged to invite various groups, ministries, and parish staff to come together for an hour a week to reflect on the Sunday Scriptures. In addition, directors of religious education, youth ministers, and other parish leaders can encourage youth and young adults to embrace the weekly reading of the Sunday texts using Christ in Our Neighborhood as a model. Finally, Christ in Our Neighborhood materials may be adapted for use by schoolteachers for younger grades, youth groups, and even leaders of other Christian communities.
Feel free to read the reflections and download free PDF copies for your group studies or personal prayer. Invite someone you know back to church today through your Christ in Our Neighborhood small group!
