As the coronavirus crisis continues into the Easter season, Catholic churches in the Dioceses of Phoenix are celebrating in a new way.

This Sunday is Palm Sunday, where Catholics celebrate the day Jesus entered Jerusalem and palms were laid out for him to walk over.

According to a guide sent out to parishes from the Office of Worship at the Diocese of Phoenix, people can use palm fronds from last year, make their own from paper or use fronds from their own palm trees.

This guide and other information also will be provided in Spanish.

Rob De Francesco, the director of communications, said the Diocese is encouraging people to follow social distancing and stay safe, while also staying connected in their faith by checking in with their parish’s recommendations for Mass.
