El 3 de marzo de 2018, el Papa Francisco decretó formalmente que el lunes siguiente a Pentecostés celebraremos en honor a la Santísima Virgen María, Madre de la Iglesia. “Habiendo considerado atentamente hasta qué punto la promoción de esta devoción puede alentar el crecimiento del sentido materno de la Iglesia en los pastores, religiosos y fieles, así como el crecimiento de la genuina piedad mariana, el Papa Francisco ha decretado que el Memorial del Bienaventurado La Virgen María, Madre de la Iglesia, debe estar inscrita en el Calendario Romano el lunes después de Pentecostés y ahora se celebra cada año.” Lea el decreto oficial aquí.

On March 3, 2018, Pope Francis formally decreed that the Monday following Pentecost shall we celebrated in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church. As she is mother to the Head of the Church (Christ), so too is she Mother to His Body, of which we all are a part! Read more from The Catholic Sun about this new feast.
“Having attentively considered how greatly the promotion of this devotion might encourage the growth of the maternal sense of the Church in the pastors, religious and faithful, as well as a growth of genuine Marian piety, Pope Francis has decreed that the Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church, should be inscribed in the Roman Calendar on the Monday after Pentecost and be now celebrated every year.” Read the official decree here.
