St. John Vianney– Facilities and Maintenance Assistant

Job Description

Overview:

The Facilities and Maintenance Assistant is a full-time staff member who works under the Director of Facilities and Maintenance to maintain the buildings and grounds at St. John Vianney Parish, and at times, this includes projects at the Chapel of the Holy Cross. 

Responsibilities:

- Maintain vehicle appearance outside and inside.

- Maintain landscaping, including flowers, hedging, pruning, trimming, raking, weed abatement, vegetation clearing, etc. 

- Blowing off and cleaning the driveways, sidewalks, and parking lot

- Maintenance in the Church and the main building, which includes mopping all tile floors, vacuuming carpets and pews, dusting and sanitizing surfaces.

- Maintain all bathrooms.

- Maintain kitchen including all countertops, stove, oven, sinks, and refrigerator.

- Helping with seasonal decorations

- Clean the classrooms and offices.

- Cleaning the fishpond

- Monday through Friday – 7:00 am – 3:30 pm (half-hour lunch)

Qualifications/Experience: 

- Good communication skills, ideally in English, bilingual a plus 

- Ability to handle the job physically: lifting up to 50 lbs, carrying, climbing, standing for prolonged periods, etc. 

- Ability to take instruction and follow through. 

- Ability to take the initiative, diagnose problems, and maintain the property. 

- Valid Driver’s License. 

Salary: To be determined based on experience. Includes full benefits (Diocesan medical and dental) and pension plan includes 403B, life insurance, and short-term disability.

Includes two weeks of paid accrued vacation, 11 holidays, and 64 hours sick time.

Time Required: Full-time salaried position working 40 hours per week. 

Evaluation: Informal evaluations (May and September) by the pastor and Director of Maintenance and Facilities.
