The Coordinator of Liturgical Ministries, under the supervision of the Pastor, schedules all liturgical volunteers, oversees planning and preparation of worship space environment, plans and conducts on-going liturgical education/training programs, and coordinates the evaluation/implementation of overall parish liturgical needs. Responsible for overseeing, recruiting, training, scheduling and fostering leadership of liturgical volunteers including altar linens, art and environment, Altar Servers, Lectors, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Mass Captains, Sacristans and Ministers of Hospitality (Ushers).
- Oversee all liturgical ministries: Includes recruitment and training of new liturgical volunteers, and ongoing training for existing volunteers, with periodic performance assessment of Altar Servers.
- Prepare and distribute monthly schedules for liturgical ministries, and Priest and Deacon liturgical schedules.
- Train and supervise Sacristans for funeral and wedding liturgies.
- Meet with families to plan funeral liturgies.
- Assure that all liturgical vestments are clean and ready for clergy/celebrant.
- Prepare weekly pulpit announcements.
- Update all binders for weekend, holiday, and Holy Day Liturgies.
- Assure that liturgical ministers are informed of any Sunday second collections and Holy Days of Obligation collections.
- Maintain inventory of liturgical supplies and Art and Environment items. Schedule in a timely manner custodians and volunteers for season changes.
- Oversee visiting clergy stipends.
- Prepare budget support as requested.
- Performs any other job-related duties as directed by the Pastor.
- Must have working knowledge of and strong commitment to the mission of Holy Cross Catholic Church and be in full communion with the Church.
- Practicing Catholic with in-depth academic or working knowledge and training in Theology and Liturgy and it’s function in the Roman Catholic tradition.
- Strong understanding and appreciation of various ethnic cultures.
- Bi-lingual preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others.
- Computer literacy, excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to include some weekend hours, occasional evenings and holidays, and holy days of obligation.
