- Under the direct supervision of the Parish Administrator and in collaboration with the Pastor, has the overall responsibility to plan, organize, initiate, maintain and evaluate a parish-wide stewardship and development program with emphasis on prayer, service and giving. Serves as a resource in cultivating a culture of stewardship to parish community, staff, ministries, Finance Council and the Pastoral Stewardship Council. Develops implements and evaluates parish wide opportunities for hospitality as needed. Hospitality ministries include: Golf Cart Ministry, Sunday Coffee and Red Ambassadors. Performs any other job-related tasks as deemed necessary and/or assigned by the Pastor or Parish Administrator.
DUTIES OF THE JOB:
- Recruit and develop a Pastoral Stewardship Council that is guided by the parish mission statement through prayer, service and giving in collaboration with the Pastor and Director of Pastoral Activities.
- Serve as a resource in the area of stewardship to staff, ministries, Finance Council and the Pastoral Stewardship Council by providing educational materials/experiences and by developing and maintaining positive relationships.
- Create and implement Development Plan with short and long term goals and objectives for 1: increased plate collection, to include stewardship statements, recurring giving, addressing non-donors and end of year giving initiatives and 2: long term giving opportunities, to include increasing our endowment fund with Catholic Community Foundation, bequests, annuities, outright gifts etc.
- Conduct the annual Giving Campaign which includes preparing solicitation materials.
- Develop strong communication with parishioners about our stewardship of Praying, Serving and Giving, and development needs and goals to include but not limited to: weekly bulletin, weekly email connection, quarterly newsletter and annual financial report to the community.
- Coordinate preparation, planning and implementation for development fundraising and/or capital campaign drive.
- Oversee acknowledgements, solicitation reports, and all correspondence as it relates to development.
- Oversee all Memorials including Bricks, Tree of Life and Unborn Garden.
- Organize the annual Diocesan Charity and Development Appeal.
- Coordinate and implement the annual Ministry Appreciation Dinner.
- Research potential grant opportunities and oversees any written grant proposals.
- Aide in the overall smooth operation of the parish collaboration and communication process in the area of stewardship and development in a mature, efficient and professional manner; maintaining confidentiality; continuous professional development through study and self-examination.
- Attend staff prayer, staff meetings, Parish Orientations and Pastoral Stewardship Council meetings; attends an occasional Finance Committee meeting as needed.
- Participate as a member of the Pastoral Leadership Team by attending meetings; supporting the collaborative efforts of the team; offering mutual support to all staff members.
- Staff Liaison to Financial Peace University.
- Develops, implements and evaluates all aspects of New Parishioner Orientation.
- Develops, implements and evaluates all aspects of Red Ambassadors “Ask Me” ministry.
- Develops, implements and evaluates all aspects of Sunday Coffee ministry.
- Develops, implements and evaluates all aspects of Golf Cart ministry.
- Maintains overall smooth operation of Hospitality Ministries in a mature, efficient, and professional manner, maintaining confidentiality, preparing reports on time to meet established deadlines.
- Perform any other job-related tasks as deemed necessary and/or as assigned by the Pastor or Parish Administrator.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Theology and/or Non-Profit Management or its equivalency.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in stewardship and/or development, supervision, knowledge of principles of church management.
- Knowledge and understanding of planned giving and grant writing a plus.
- Experience with project management.
- Must be skilled in management of people, information and resources, supervision and volunteer coordination; needs to be knowledgeable ofconsensus model of decision-making.
- Must be able to work under pressure, initiate, be creative and anticipate solutions to problems; be able to work with differing personalities; must be able to work within collaborative environment as member of the parish staff; must be able to vision and create objectives to meet visions.
- Must have good communication and organizational skills.
- Must be available evenings and weekends.
- Complete and maintain Diocesan Safe Environment Training as required by the Diocese.
- Must possess a valid Arizona Driver’s License and own personal transportation. Employee is subject to Diocesan and parish personnel policies prescribed for all personnel.
