The Director of Music is responsible for the effective planning, coordination, and execution of music in the celebrations and devotions of the church, with particular attention to the liturgy of the Mass. The Director of Music works to ensure that all audio and visual technologies add to and enhance the experience of the faithful at liturgies such as weekend Masses, weddings, and funerals. The director assists all other liturgical ministers to ensure the proper role of music within all liturgies.

Job Requirements:
  • Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing.
  • Exceptional piano skills, competency as an organist a plus.
  • Proficiency in the following areas: Singing, conducting from the keyboard, directing a contemporary worship ensemble or church choir, musical literacy (both piano/SATB scores and lead sheets), sightreading, musical arranging, improvisation on keyboard instruments, working knowledge of healthy vocal ensemble techniques for both traditional and contemporary styles, and choral conducting.
  • Basic understanding of audio technology and sound design.
  • Thorough understanding of sacred music within the Roman Catholic liturgy.
  • Knowledge of various styles of Catholic music, including, but not limited to, traditional hymnody, folk, gospel, and contemporary praise & worship music.
  • Previous parish experience in liturgy and experience with liturgical ministry formation desired.
  • Understanding of Ignatian Spirituality is preferred.
  • Bi-lingual is preferred.
  • Must be capable of lifting 30+ pounds
