  • Preparing and processing weekly contributions, bank deposits, records receipts and deposits income to appropriate bank accounts on a weekly basis. Responsible for processing year end contribution statements.
  • Monthly reconciliation of accounts, month-end closings, year-end closings and financial reports to Finance Council and Diocese Finance office. Acts as Recording Secretary (takes minutes) at Finance Council meetings.
  • Reviewing and approving payroll for the Pastor.
  • Processing and keeping current accounts payable and vendor records. Responsible for monthly accrual accounting entries and other necessary entries.
  • Processing and keeping current accounts receivable and documenting records. Responsible for event accounts receivables and assists with processing of Religious Education accounts receivable. Works with the Parish Administrator at major parish fundraisers to manage event income.
  • Formulates annual parish budget and works with staff and volunteer ministry leaders to create department budgets. Monitors budget, income and expenses. Responsible for parish financial reviews and submission of those to the Diocesan Finance Office.
  • Maintains all financial records and accounting with strict adherence to Diocesan Financial Policies and Procedures and GAAP. Issues or situations not covered by policy or left to the parish’s discretion will be decided by the Pastor in consultation with the Accountant and Parish Finance Council.
  • Provides data acquisition and financial analysis for stewardship and other giving opportunity programs.
  • Attends Diocesan Finance Forums and accounting training as scheduled. Completes on-going Shelby software training.
  • Monthly consultation with Pastor to review financials and discuss recommendations.
  • Other job-related tasks as assigned by Pastor for the efficient accounting operation of the parish. Maintains and demonstrates a cooperative attitude and effective working relationship with all departments, employees, church groups, volunteers and parishioners.
  • Job Requirements:

    PREFERENCES:

    •   Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business Administration (or equivalent work experience).
    • Experienced working with the accounting cycle through the general ledger including journal entry preparation, complex reconciliations and variance analysis.
    • Three years working experience in a related position.
    • Active practicing Roman Catholic in communion with the Church.
