The use of the word Black with a capital B, refers to our culture, and is interchangeable with the term African American. We are about celebrating the culture of African and African Americans in Mass, with the gifts that are shared with the universal Catholic Church, in order to fulfill the mission of meeting people where they are at and bringing them to a closer relationship with God.
This ministry is about inclusion, not segregation; culture not color, and enculturation not assimilation.
We are reminded in, 1 Corinthians 12 that the body is Christ and the parts are the diverse and beautiful cultures within it. Our universal Catholic faith loves, encourages and supports the richness of all cultures.
With faith and purpose, we affirm the presence of Jesus Christ and strive to do the following:
Affirm Sacramental Marriage
Evangelize the Black Family
Promote and support religious and priestly vocations
Form and empower our youth leaders.
Empower advocates of Social Justice through the diffusion of the Social Doctrine of the Catholic Church.
Your gift to the Charity & Development Appeal supports over 70 diocesan ministries, transforming lives. Together, we put faith into action, achieving more than any one parish or person.
