Why a Gospel of Life Campaign?

Roe v. Wade is no more!  The issue of abortion now moves to the states, and this means that the responsibility for the battle, won by prayer and acts of love, moves to the local level. The time to support vulnerable pregnant and parenting mothers has never been more apparent.

Bishop Dolan enthusiastically asks all of our parishes to begin or continue strengthening our outreach and assistance to the most vulnerable which includes the pregnant and parenting mothers in need, the elderly, the sick and those terminal ill. As we know only too well, many moms are at risk of falling prey to the abortion industry, or to the real discouragements that come and threaten each mother’s resolve to say yes to life. Our parishes are in the breach and closest to many moms in this situation.

As always, this Appeal also directly supports the subsidiarity of parish Gospel of Life efforts. Parishes keep 1/3 of the funds in house for their own efforts, and 2/3 of the funds given come to the Diocesan Office of Respect Life Ministries to support the office in its mission to share the Gospel of Life, for outreach, education of parish leaders and volunteers.
