Our Mission

The mission of Nazareth Seminary is to faithfully serve the Church by forming young men for priestly service in the Diocese of Phoenix. This united and integrated formation is grounded in community and missionary in spirit. We do so in union with Jesus Christ and under the intercession of Mary and Joseph.

Our History

Phoenix’s rising number of seminarians and the Church’s 2016 Ratio Fundamentalis—which emphasized household-style community and stronger human formation—led the diocese to adopt a smaller, more personal seminary model rather than a large institutional one.

Establishing our local seminary is an enormous undertaking! This process involves limitless decisions by our Bishop and diocesan leaders, Canon and Civil Lawyers, Buildings and Properties, Mission Advancement, Communications, Finance and more. Please pray for all of these diocesan leaders as they follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit to firmly establish and build Nazareth Seminary for the good of the local Church. Please pray also for all men being formed for priestly service in the Diocese of Phoenix.
