Features of Kino
- A two-year formation aimed at preparing students to bear confident, charitable witness to the truths of the faith which will help to discern more clearly how to serve under the mission of the Catholic Church.
- Systematic, comprehensive overview of the doctrine and dogma of the Catholic Faith, rooted in the Sacred Scriptures and the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
Classroom Environment
- Experienced instructors, catechists, clergy, and religious from throughout the diocese.
- Diverse mix of adult learners.
- Opportunities to ask questions and interact with instructors and fellow students.
Coursework
- Adult Faith Formation consists of 14 five-week courses on Catholic doctrine and dogma, taught over the course of two academic years.
- Parish Leadership consists of four (4) two-day courses focusing on the methodology and pedagogy of handing on the Catholic Faith.
- All courses will have textbooks, reading assignments, and end-of-course assessments.
- Deacon Inquirers are required to take the Adult Faith Formation/Parish Leadership Combined program, for credit, and are required to carry a grade of “B” or above in all Kino courses.
Adult Faith Formation & Parish Leadership
Schedule
- Courses are offered in the morning and in the evening.
- Adult Faith Formation courses in our evening cohort are offered on either Tuesday (even years) or Wednesday (odd years) evenings during the academic year. Evening courses run from 6:30pm-9:30pm.
- Adult Faith Formation courses in our daytime cohort are offered on either Wednesday (odd years) or Thursday (even years) mornings during the academic year. Daytime courses run from 9:00am-Noon.
- Parish Leadership courses are offered on Saturdays during the academic year.
Each course meets from 9:00am-4:00pm. - All of our courses are held at the Diocesan Pastoral Center, 400 E Monroe St., Phoenix, AZ 85004.
