New Name – Same Mission of Greatness

The Diocese of Phoenix is proud to announce Ascent – the relaunch of the popular Parish Leadership Conference of years past. Ascent has a new format of a one- day event held at two different locations across our Diocese. The conference is designed to elevate ministry HIGHER and is geared toward priests, parish staff members, leadership council members, and other lay ministry leaders. The day will be packed with valuable insight, activities, and great opportunities to build community among other parishes in the Diocese. You won’t want to miss it!

OUR THEME THIS YEAR

Making Sense of Three Long Words: Discipleship, Evangelization, and Stewardship

It’s very easy to confuse the three; are they new programs, or are they old ideas that need rephrasing? If Stewardship is only “a little” about money, what more does it demand? What’s more important – being a follower of Jesus or preaching the Gospel in truth? Our speakers will tackle these questions and more in an engaging and interactive keynote session focused on equipping parish leaders with the skills and tools to take their ministries to the next level.

Dan Rogers

Dan Rogers is currently the Coordinator of Discipleship and Stewardship for the Diocese of Phoenix and will be presenting in the keynote on Discipleship. Dan’s experience as a missionary traveling across the US presenting the Gospel to teens has shaped his heart in a profound way – years of learning theology as an undergrad and graduate have shaped his mind to guide leaders in forming Disciples of Jesus.

Fr. Greg Schlarb

Fr. Greg Schlarb is not only the “Vicar of Stewardship” for the Diocese, he is also a legend in the Stewardship community. Why? Because he has a deep passion for education, a witty sense of humor, and an infectious love for parish ministry. In his section of the keynote, Fr. Greg will debunk myths, suggest creative ideas, and give testimony to the power of stewardship in our parishes.

Local Speakers = More Engagement!

One of the goals of Ascent is to tap into the talent and skills of local Phoenix speakers and ministry professionals for the sake of both networking and follow up. Additional guest speakers including Bishop Thomas Olmsted, Cande de Leon, and Carri Aranda will be present, as well as a sponsor area with organizations dedicated to assisting parishes in their mission.
