Office for Buildings & Properties

“For which one of you, when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost to see if he has enough to complete it.” – Luke 14:28

Property & Facility Stewardship

The Office of Buildings and Properties oversees the Diocese’s real estate, construction, renovations, facility management, and loss prevention, ensuring responsible stewardship of our physical assets through expert technical, administrative, and financial support.

What we do

Construction

Our staff is knowledgeable in the construction industry and serves as a procedural liaison for parishes, schools, and agencies. We provide assistance in the construction of new buildings, major maintenance projects, renovations projects, and emergency repairs throughout the Diocese of Phoenix. Support staff is available to assist in providing parishes and schools all the necessary information to complete construction related projects within a timely schedule and ensure cost appropriate measures to obtain the best quality materials and services needed for completion.

We provide assistances in the following categories:

  • Project consultation
  • Construction methods
  • Architect and Construction Manager selection process
  • AIA contracts/agreements for Architects, Engineers, and Contractors
  • Attend construction meetings with the parish, school, or local government agencies

Real Estate

The Real Estate Department advises and assists parishes, schools, and agencies in real estate affairs, including purchasing and selling property, leasing (either as landowner or tenant), paying property taxes and filing for exemptions, obtaining needed approvals on contracts and agreements, filing Arizona Department of Water Resources Annual Water Withdrawal and Use Reports for irrigation, water rights and wells, monitoring and preparing parish and school cell tower leases, and maintaining all real estate records and files. We also oversee all real property for the Diocese of Phoenix.
