Destination Weddings to the Diocese of Phoenix
If a couple does not live within the Diocese of Phoenix and would like to plan a wedding at one of the Catholic Churches of the Diocese of Phoenix, please note the following:
- They are subject to the marriage preparation policy of the diocese where the Catholic party(ies) live and not the policy of the Diocese of Phoenix.
- Any dispensations or permissions are issued by the diocese where the Catholic party lives, except for permission for marriage outside of an approved place. That must be granted by the Diocese of Phoenix. The Diocese of Phoenix will not approve an outdoor wedding.
- The prenuptial file for the couple must be sent from the parish where the couple was prepared to the diocese of that parish. That diocese will approve the file and send the file to the Office of Canonical Services & the Tribunal of the Diocese of Phoenix for further review and approval. The file is then sent to the parish where the wedding will take place. For proper processing, the Office of Canonical Services & the Tribunal will need these files at least 30 days before the date of the wedding.
