Grant Funding Applications
The primary purpose of CDA/Bishop’s Assessment grants to parishes and missions in the Diocese of Phoenix is to support and assist them in providing for the basic spiritual and sacramental needs of the members of their respective communities. These funds might assist a parish that serves a small community or one that is otherwise financially constrained to fund essential expenses such as:
- Costs associated with salary and benefits of a priest.
- Utilities, insurance, and other required operating expenses.
The granting committee may consider other requests, such as funding for specific programs, once this primary focus has been achieved.
Parish grants will not be available to fund the following:
- Capital projects.
Parishes with assessable revenue greater than $250,000.
The purpose of the CDA grants to charitable organizations is to assist with programmatic funding for Catholic charitable organizations serving individuals within the boundaries of the Diocese. The grants may be restricted for specific programs or may be unrestricted and used for general programming of the Organization. Unrestricted grant applications require greater demonstration of need. CDA granting is focused on organizations and programs that prioritize the material and spiritual needs of all, from conception and throughout their lives and specifically on the following:
- Protection of the Life and Dignity of the Human Person.
- Crisis pregnancy assistance.
- Service to the elderly.
- Assistance for single mothers.
- Support for Marriage and the Family.
- Option for the Poor and Vulnerable.
- Meet food and shelter needs.
- Rescue and recovery from abuse, neglect, exploitation, and other debilitating events/circumstances.
- Spiritual formation and development.
CDA grants will not be awarded for capital projects.
The purpose of the CDA/Bishop’s Assessment grants to high schools and K-8 parochial schools in the Diocese of Phoenix is to assist schools with providing tuition assistance to their students/families and in certain extraordinary (and temporary) situations to assist schools with operating costs. Schools are expected to fund operations through tuition and tuition assistance. Applications for assistance with school operating costs will need to include a plan to eliminate the need for this assistance in future years. Such a plan may include fundraising, increased enrollment, increased tuition rates and other efforts.
School grants will not be available to fund the following:
- Capital projects.
Programs not essential to school operation.
