Fr. John R. Muir serves as the Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia for the Diocese of Phoenix.

Fr John R. Muir was born in Burlington, VT., in 1978. His family of seven moved to Phoenix in 1989, where he grew up in St Theresa Parish. He attended Arcadia High School and participated in various  sports and music programs. He received his BA in Spanish and Communication Arts from Regis University in 2000. He received a BA in philosophy from St. John Vianney Seminary in Denver in 2003. He received a Masters in Divinity and STB in Theology in 2007 from University of St. Mary of the Lake. In 2008 he received a Licentiate in Sacred Theology from the Liturgical Institute in Illinois. He served in various roles at St Joan of Arc parish in Phoenix, the Newman Center at ASU, St Rose Philippine Duchesne in Anthem, Good Shepherd Mission in New River, St. Michael and St Lucy Mission in Gila Bend, St Thomas Aquinas in Avondale, and the Office of Worship for the Diocese of Phoenix. He was appointed Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia by Bishop Dolan on January 1, 2023.
