Died Tuesday, November 8, 2016, at the age of 87.
Fr. Santos was born February 21, 1929 in Honolulu, Hawaii. In 1950 he entered the monastery of Our Lady of the Holy Trinity in Huntsville, Utah, and was ordained a Trappist monk and priest on May 23, 1959 for the Abbey of the Holy Spirit, of the Cistercian Order of the Strict Observance.
In 1967 he moved to Georgia and continued his teaching at the Trappist Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Conyers from 1967 through 1969. While in Georgia, he co-founded and was the director of The Bridge, a walk-in and residential adolescent alcohol and drug treatment center in Atlanta where he worked until its closing in 1975. He arrived to the Diocese of Phoenix in July 1991. He lived as a retired priest in Flagstaff and assisted at San Francisco de Asis Parish and the northern parishes.
